4/20/2022 Covid 19 update:

If you have a fever and cough, and suspect you may have Covid19, please call our office at 252-764-2024 and ask to schedule an appointment for a COVID test.  They can provide you with more information on what to do.  We have a second entrance set up with  dedicated exam rooms away from the rest of our patient care areas.  No Covid 19 testing patients will be allowed in our reception area.  Please call the number on the sign outside the door and staff will meet you outside with further instructions.  If you are having chest pain or any other medical emergency, please call 911 or go to the nearest Emergency Room.

We continue to see enormous call volumes every day, especially in the morning hours.  If you are looking for a covid test or treatment, and you're having trouble getting through, please wait a few minutes and call back.

All  monoclonal antibody infusions have been removed from the market except one.  As the Coronavirus continues to mutate, we see current antibody infusions becoming less and less effective.  The only one authorized in the US to treat Covid at this time is "Beb".  We continue to give it here in our office and have a decent supply.
.

We also have Evusheld, an injectable antibody.  This injection is given to people who cannot take a vaccine due to an allergy or previous adverse reaction to it, or we can give it to people who are immunocompromised (due to a disease like cancer or autoimmune diseases, or due to medications that suppress your immune system) and unlikely to form a strong antibody response when given a vaccine.  This medication is NOT used to treat covid.  It is given to people to help prevent them from getting covid.  Please call us if you would like to discuss whether you would qualify for this medication.

We continue to offer multiple types of COVID testing!  We can perform rapid antigen testing with results in as little as 10-15 minutes, and we also have our own in-house PCR machine (PCR is the more sensitive "send off" lab test that usually takes 2-3 days to get results back from a lab), offering 45-minute turn-around time!  For people needing a test to travel, the large labs can get behind and results can get delayed, causing interruptions in travel plans.  We previously had no control over when results would be received.  Having our own PCR machine in house allows us to guarantee that the test results get to you on time.

Unlike many drive-through covid testing sites, we do require an appointment and we have patients come in our office for testing.  With all the different types of testing and treatment available, and with the constantly changing guidelines, we want to sit down with you and make sure that the test being done is the appropriate test and that the timing of the test is correct.  We can discuss various treatment options if you are positive.  We can give advice regarding vaccines, quarantine times, or answer any other questions you have.  We can also test for Flu and other viral illnesses, and can give treatment recommendations or send in prescription medicines as appropriate.

If you call our office after hours and need a covid test, please do not leave a voicemail.  Due to the overwhelming demand for covid testing, it is taking days to get through the backlog of messages being left.  The fastest way to get on the schedule for a covid test is to call during business hours.

Due to the high demand of COVID19 testing, we have disabled online appointment requests.  Please call us at 252-764-2024 to schedule an appointment.
